The 2010 Waterloo Airshow was held on June 20th 2010 so I decided to head out to my first airshow ever.

It also happened to be a great chance to stretch my photography and go shoot some statics and mid-airs and hopefully come back with decent stuff.

I knew that the light was going to be brutally strong and that the solar reflections off the planes were going to be ridiculous so I bought a circular polarizer prior to the shoot which turned out to be a godsend for a lot of the shots.

Imagine being on your feet from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the height of the summer solstice, no shade anywhere and the heat was on broil on the tarmac because of the hot jet exhaust.

Walking for miles and miles with a sunburn on the back of my knees and a bad case of chaffing :)

Oh - Also running of memory cards 10 mins before the main attraction (Snowbirds) and having to do a massive spot cull of RAW photos and then switch to JPG to save the day with less then 25% battery life.

Add 1 week of post-processing and metadata keyword tagging and voila.

Result: Learned a ton of lessons on that shoot and got some winners for all my pain and efforts.

Enjoy them for they were hard won.
