4 AM Beacon

4 AM.

Couldn't really sleep a wink. I was too excited by last evening's events but especially the prospect of going to the park and making sure that I was going to be the very first at the gates.

Although the AC in my room was fully cranked up, the air that was coming out of it was sticky with humidity. What was needed was a dehumidifier but standardization yet again got in the way of common sense.

And then, out of curiosity, I looked outside and realized that other than the motel's floodlights, there were no other lights at all.

That gave me the impetus to grab my camera (still with the f1.4 50 mm lens on), remote shutter control and tripod and headed out. Although sunrise was officially at 6:49 am, I couldn't risk losing such a starry sky.

The halls of the motel was dead quiet but for a low hum from the AC whose air was dryer and cooler than in my room. I stepped out and although humid and warm, a good breeze kept any haze from forming. Which I knew would change since the weather was set for a high of 29 degrees celsius with high humidity for later that morning.

The weatherman wasn't joking, it was going to be a hot one but for the moment, a mere 200 feet from the motel, I basked in the breeze and took this long exposure.
